The Garden Club tends a very large plot of vegetables which is growing quite well.
 
 
Friday February 3, 2012
Maureen visited her eye surgeon this morning. The macular hole has healed but vision is still cloudy. The ophthalmologist says it will take time to get the vision back – we just have to be patient.
Palm Park was lit up tonight with hundreds of luminaries as a fund raiser for Cancer Awareness.

While the rest of the world watched the Super Bowl Susan and Maureen visited the Running of the Gourds at the Casa Grande Fairgrounds.
 
We learned how to prepare the gourds for decorating

Then we marvelled at all the many shapes and sizes of gourds that are available.
 
Inside the Competitors building we were blown away by the ingenuity and talent that goes in to gourd decorating.
 
This girl is made entirely with gourds, as is the chair that she sits on.

Maureen played in the mixed scramble in the morning. Her “bird” helped the team win a prize!

Maureen used some of the money from her mother’s estate to purchase a “lot improvement” her at Palm Creek. Along with the 10 X 12 shed, there’s a washer and dryer, water softener, hot water heater, full size fridge, and lots of paving.
